Manual versus electric is the main decision, and it is worth knowing almost all of ours are electric (74 of 78): a button adjusts the recline smoothly and holds any position, but the sofa needs to sit near a socket, and powered models usually cannot be pushed flush to a wall, leave a little clearance behind. The few manual recliners use a lever and need no power, which suits rooms without a nearby socket. Reclining seats also extend forwards when open, so measure the space in front as well as the width.
